Acclaimed jazz musician Travis Brant, hailing from Indianapolis, is preparing to release his much-anticipated EP, Casual Metres, on February 10, 2025, under Def Left Ear Records. The four-track collection marks a significant milestone in Brant’s career, showcasing his exceptional skills as a composer and producer, and further establishing him as a prominent figure in contemporary jazz.

Casual Metres promises to be a defining project for Brant, blending traditional jazz elements with modern influences in intricate and carefully crafted compositions. The EP is designed to take listeners on a unique auditory journey, illustrating Brant’s ability to navigate and innovate within the jazz genre. Each track demonstrates his versatility, from the use of traditional jazz harmonies to the incorporation of contemporary sounds and structures.

The EP benefits from the expertise of two industry veterans. Steve Sykes, a renowned producer, engineer, and mixer from Fort Collins, contributed his mixing skills to the project. Sykes’ impressive career spans several decades, having worked with legendary artists such as The Isley Brothers, Angela Winbush, and Stanley Clarke. His experience as both a session guitarist and engineer brings a polished, refined sound to Casual Metres.

Mastering the EP is Paul Blakemore, a multiple Grammy-winning audio engineer with over 45 years of experience in jazz, classical, and Latin jazz music. Blakemore, currently a staff mastering engineer for Concord Records, has worked with esteemed artists like Esperanza Spalding and Arturo Sandoval. His unparalleled expertise ensures that Casual Metres delivers a flawless and immersive listening experience for audiences.

Brant’s passion for jazz began in his hometown of Indianapolis, where he cultivated his deep appreciation for the genre. Throughout his career, Brant has collaborated with prominent contemporary jazz artists such as Gerald Albright, Paul Brown, Michael Lington, and Darren Rahn. His previous projects include his successful involvement with the Indianapolis-based band, Axon Radio, which earned a spot on the Billboard/Mediabase Top 40 smooth jazz chart in 2023.

With Casual Metres, Brant aims to captivate both his long-time followers and new listeners. The EP is set to showcase his growth as an artist while maintaining the innovative edge that has become synonymous with his work.

The EP will be available on all major streaming platforms starting February 10, 2025. For further information on Travis Brant and his upcoming projects, fans can visit his official website at travisbrant.com.
