The OpenID Foundation is set to return to the Gartner Identity and Access Management (IAM) Summit in Grapevine, Texas, from December 9th to 11th, 2024, where it will highlight the capabilities of its Shared Signals Framework (SSF) in enhancing digital identity security.
Following the success of its interoperability sessions at the earlier 2024 Gartner Summit in London, the Foundation will once again demonstrate how its Shared Signals Framework (SSF) is transforming identity threat detection and response (ITDR). The SSF, an open standard developed by the OpenID Foundation’s Shared Signals Working Group (SSWG), enables dynamic and secure communication between applications and service providers, facilitating rapid responses to emerging security threats.
The SSF allows risk signals, including the Continuous Access Evaluation Profile (CAEP) and Risk Incident Sharing and Coordination (RISC), to be exchanged via an open API. This helps applications make real-time access and authorisation decisions based on up-to-date security information, crucial for organisations looking to implement robust Zero Trust architectures.
Atul Tulshibagwale, Co-Chair of the OpenID Foundation’s SSWG and CTO of SGNL, expressed his excitement ahead of the event. “The adoption of open standards for collaborative security is growing rapidly, and the Shared Signals Framework is at the forefront of this shift. We’ve seen significant support from leading companies, many of whom are now in the process of implementing these protocols,” he said. “Gartner’s invitation to return to the IAM Summit is an exciting opportunity to showcase how SSF, CAEP, and RISC are enabling enhanced security and fostering seamless, real-time collaboration.”
Gail Hodges, Executive Director of the OpenID Foundation, echoed these sentiments, stressing the importance of Shared Signals in addressing current cyber threats. “Shared Signals has been identified as a critical tool for tackling modern security challenges, as confirmed by the CISA Cybersafety Review Board. Being invited by Gartner to demonstrate interoperability at such a prestigious event is a key milestone in the global rollout of these standards,” she said.
