British actress and CHANEL ambassador Lucy Boynton lit up London’s Bond Street with the iconic CHANEL N°5 festive light installation, marking the start of the holiday season. The illumination celebrates a partnership between CHANEL Fragrance & Beauty and the New West End Company.
Speaking at the event, Boynton expressed her joy at participating in the long-standing tradition.
“Having grown up in London, I’ve walked under these Christmas lights every year. I couldn’t be more thrilled to be part of lighting up Bond Street with CHANEL this year.”
The festive lights, a Bond Street tradition for over six decades, now feature an exclusive CHANEL N°5 design stretching from Piccadilly to Oxford Street. Illuminated daily from 4pm to midnight until 12 January 2025, the display pays homage to London and the legendary CHANEL N°5 fragrance, combining the beauty of the city with the elegance of the brand.
Thomas du Pré de Saint Maur, Head of Global Creative for CHANEL Fragrance & Beauty, addressed the crowd, highlighting the collaborative effort behind the display.
“Thanks to a splendid collaboration between the New West End Company and CHANEL, we hope to delight passersby, amaze children, and make grown-ups dream.”
Dee Corsi, Chief Executive of the New West End Company, echoed this sentiment, calling the display “something truly special” among Bond Street’s celebrated illuminations over the decades.
The installation draws inspiration from the iconic CHANEL N°5 bottle, known for its minimalist design and geometric elegance. The display incorporates 85,750 LED lights and is constructed from recyclable aluminium, with all components designed for reuse in future projects. This commitment to sustainability aligns with CHANEL’s broader values, ensuring the display is as eco-friendly as it is captivating.
Bond Street, renowned for its high-end boutiques, has long been intertwined with CHANEL’s heritage. The House’s flagship store and global headquarters are situated in the heart of Mayfair, reinforcing the connection between CHANEL and London’s luxury hub.
The light installation serves as a shimmering love letter to London, celebrating its vibrancy and cultural significance. Spectators can enjoy the festive atmosphere while marvelling at the creativity and craftsmanship behind the design, which captures the timeless allure of CHANEL N°5.
This year’s display is not only a celebration of the holiday season but also a tribute to CHANEL’s enduring legacy. As passersby bask in the glow of the lights, the installation offers a moment of joy, inspiration, and connection to one of the world’s most iconic fashion houses.
